Where interface conventions have moved
Buttons have flattened and grown: larger tap targets, clearer disabled and hover states, less ornament. Form fields have gained visible labels back, after a spell of placeholder-only inputs that failed accessibility badly. Cards have lost their heavy shadows in favour of hairline borders. Mobile navigation has largely settled on a full-height overlay rather than a cramped dropdown.
A site built to the previous set of conventions reads as old even when the layout is fine.
